Tuesday Talk-ins

What’s next?

As the dust settles on the election and we look to a new Assembly term, it seemed it might be quite helpful to continue with the Tuesday Talkin-ins, but this time to coincide in advance, with the new round of States Meetings – so that current topics before the Assembly can be given an airing . To that end, We will be seeking to put together a regular panel (always allowing space for guests) who are sufficiently knowledgeable about the next States Meeting Agenda.

Visitors to the site may already be aware that States Meeting dates are already secured against the full term of the next Assembly and they are also pre-dated and governed by a variety of different deadlines, depending on what is being proposed. There is a new post in the sidebar which details all of this. Of course, there is something of a summer hiatus as there are no States Meetings in August.

In the meantime, there are a few meetings between the 1st July and 7th July to elect individuals to various positions. The first ‘full’ States meeting to include the newly appointed Committee members is on the 15th July (the Accounts) and followed on the 16th (a Wednesday and therefore a ‘normal’ States Meeting first day) – where the new P&R will be making a report to the Assembly.

This means in fact, that the new Assembly have less than 2 weeks to be appointed and get to grips with the 2024 Accounts (which are for the first time, completely IPSAS compliant – and include (for example) all of the various entities in which the States has involvement). Furthermore, there may well be important business to discuss on the 16th.

At the time of writing, it is not therefore possible to specify a date for the next Talk-in, but it is likely the topic will be the composition of the new Committees – and what that might mean!

Pre Election Talk-ins

As we approached the 2025 election, the concept of the Tuesday Talk-in Webinar was originally created, specifically to explore each of the Priorities in more detail. We did quite a few, but the closer we got to the election, the more thin on the ground available panellists became, but we did manage 7 out of the 10, which can be accessed below.
