WHAT COMMITTEE(S) WOULD YOU HOPE TO JOIN AND WHY?

Here is a summary of the questions proposed on each of the 10 priorities.

Taxation
Do you believe more tax needs to be raised?
If so, do you support GST, a rise in Income Tax or increasing Social Insurance Contributions?
Or a Territorial Tax (which would require international participation)
If you do not believe more tax needs to be raised, what services would you cut?

Health
Do you believe more tax needs to be raised to fund increasing health costs? Or
Do you support a ‘user pays’ model introduction with mandatory health insurance?
Or, Do you support an appropriate tax increase, coupled with defining what Universal Entitlement should provide?
Do you believe that taxation should include provision for Long Term care as part of any Universal Entitlement?

Economy
Do you believe more tax needs to be raised and if so – who should pay more?
Do you believe Government costs too much and if so – how would you propose to cut services to achieve a reduction?
Do you believe that Guernsey’s economy is too finance-centric and if so, what other areas should be developed ?
Do you believe we should considerably increase immigration to raise more tax revenues?

States of Guernsey 2.0
Do you believe that the current model of a ‘Consensus’ States is working with 38 local Deputies?
Do you believe that Island Wide Voting (as currently defined) is succeeding in improving the calibre of Deputies and decision-making?
Do you believe that the internal approach to Government Scrutiny is effective ?
Do you believe that there is sufficient ability for Islanders’ voices to be heard?

External Affairs
Do you believe Guernsey needs to be more independent?
Do you believe that Guernsey must follow all UN directives on Sustainability?
Should Guernsey seek closer ties with the European Union or indeed with Jersey?
Is our current Population Management regime fit for purpose?

Transport
Do you believe that Government is managing off-island connectivity successfully?
Do you believe that the Integrated Transport Strategy has improved local traffic congestion?
Do you believe that all road users should contribute to the costs of the road network?
Are you willing to have the Bus Service further subsidised to increase uptake?

Housing
Should Government provide long-term mortgage support beyond the GHA partial ownership scheme?
Should States House tenants have the right to buy their own property?
Should Landlords be required to conform to a minimum set of standards?
Has the current Island Development Plan been successful – and if not, what would you change?

Energy
Do you believe that local energy costs can remain affordable?
